CER Hungary Zrt. has been working closely with the locomotive manufacturer Softronic Srl., based in Craiova, Romania, for over a decade. In recent years, the partnership has proved fruitful, as CER Hungary Zrt. currently operates a fleet of four Transmontana 6000 kW electric locomotives, which are the result of Softronic s expertise and innovation.
In order to meet the growing traffic demand, CER Hungary Zrt. will add two more Transmontana locomotives equipped with ETCS (European Train Control System) equipment to its fleet in spring 2025. This decision has been taken considering the key interoperability aspects for the Group and its customers, as the smooth and efficient cross-border rail traffic is a top priority for both operators and customers.
Softronic s maintenance policy also played a significant role in the choice, as the manufacturer s professional and thorough maintenance procedures and the continuous application of new technologies ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of the locomotives. This maintenance approach, known as "non plus ultra", ensures that Transmontana locomotives can meet the highest demands without any problems.
The acquisition of the new locomotives therefore not only means an increase in capacity, but also promotes technological development, which gives CER Hungary Zrt. a competitive advantage in the rail freight market. Cooperation with Softronic Srl will therefore remain a priority for future growth and development.
